Famille Rose Qianlong Period Enamel Inkwell by L'Escalier de Cristal C.1880
Located in Saint-Ouen, FR
A Famille Rose Painted Enamel inkwell set Qianlong Period (1736-1795) by l’Escalier de Cristal It consists of a fretworked tray with raised edges in blackened wood surrounded by a fine gilded bronze ring, on which rests two Famille Rose Qianlong Period (1736-1795) hexagonal inkwells with pierced tops, one with original glass container, decorated with polychrome stylised flower heads and foliate scrollwork. This inkwell is characteristic of the productions of the Maison de l'Escalier de Cristal, it shows a hybrid realization, using ancient Asian elements, used as a container for feathers and ink. Stamped «Escalier de Cristal Paris» Circa 1880 L’Escalier de Cristal, Parisian firm created about 1800 by Mme veuve Desarnaud, famous under the French « Restoration » for its decorative objects combining crystal and bronze. She was awarded a gold medal at the 1819 Paris Exposition des Produits de l’Industrie for an outstanding gilt-bronze mounted crystal dressing table. Located in Paris, at the Palais-Royal, Galerie de Valois, L’Escalier de Cristal was bought out around 1830 by Boin, and then by Lahoche in 1840. The company owed its rise to a position amongst the most im-portant Paris decorative wares shops to Lahoche, who expanded considerably the business and entered later in partnership with his son-in-law to set up in 1852 Lahoche et Pannier...

Asprey Desk Set and Document Holder, English, circa 1875
Located in Incline Village, NV
The Asprey Company is an iconic British luxury home goods maker, located in London, England and was established by William Asprey in 1781, They established their current residence in London on Bond Street between 1847 and 1859 after a couple of acquisitions. They were the Nieman-Marcus of the day and made only the finest products, utilizing the best quality materials; dealing in everything from jewelry to fashion, and appealing to those wanting to buy gifts for weddings, occasions, and events. This is a customized desk set, consisting of a crystal cut glass inkwell with a brass hinged lid, resting in a velvet lined well. Markings on the velvet lining under the inkwell indicate Asprey manufacture and Bond Street location “Asprey London, 166 Bond Street 22 Albemarle Street”. To the sides of the well are two Wedgwood cameos with the typical Greek mythology themed blue and white jasperware. Resting inside the recessed pen holder is a 14-karat gold nib pen marked “no. 3”, made by Aiken & Lambert, an American company (New York City) and manufacturer of fine quality gold fountain pens. Hand engraved brass mounts are applied to the surface, while the oval shaped inkwell and pen holder rests on three bun feet. The wood is an ebonized calamander (coromandel wood) which is a rare and valuable hardwood from Sri Lanka. Also included as part of the desk set is a hinged, fold over, double sided document holder with a blotter lined interior. The exterior of the document holder is also of calamander wood, with hand engraved brass mounts to the top surface. As with the desk inkwell and pen holder, the document holder has a Wedgwood blue and white jasperware cameo...

19th Century French Enameled Champlevé Inkwell
Located in Forney, TX
A stunning and rare French mid-19th century encier in Louis Revival taste with Moorish Arabesque influence. Handcrafted in Champlevé enameled gilt bronze with ornate and colorful blue, pink, red, green and white enameling over the heavily shaped and scalloped base, that borders the stunning Severes style (I have not removed it to check for a makers mark) enameled porcelain tray scene of frolicking putti. The stunning enameling continues on the raised inkwell body and hinged lid with finial. Opposite, two raised balls act as a pen rest, the inkstand raising on four ball feet. Similar to French cloisonne, each champlevé design is a one-of-a-kind work of art. A beautiful warm verdigris patina adds to its character and charm. This wonderful antique objet...

Antique Victorian Sterling Silver, '10th Royal Hussars Officer Busby' Inkwell
Located in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne
A magnificent, fine and impressive, large and unusual antique Victorian sterling silver inkwell modelled in the form of an officer's busby of the 10th Royal Hussars; an addition to our military related silverware collection. This magnificent and unusual, antique Victorian English gilded sterling silver inkwell has been realistically modelled in the form of an officer busby/headdress of the 10th Royal Hussars. This main body of the inkwell is modelled in the form of a helmet/headdress embellished with chased decoration replicating the details of the black fur, in addition to an embossed and chased oval gold gimp spiral cord style cockade to the anterior surface of the upper portion. The helmet is encompassed with a swag band of cord ornamentation, cascading from the cover and continuing across the body. This impressive headdress is surmounted with a magnificent cast sterling silver acanthus leaf plume holder and plume reflecting the naturalistic details of the egret feathers; on the functional helmet this was erected from the posterior of the aforementioned cockade/boss. The hallmarked hinged cover opens to allow access to the double skinned interior and original removable glass liner. The cover of this antique silver inkwell includes an impressive 'coloured' cloth bag covering the top of the head piece and falling down the side, continuing past the rim. This bag is ornamented with further gold gimp style cord details in addition to a secondary boss to the lower rounded portion. The lower portion of the headdress bears the original cast and applied sterling silver gilt textured curb chain...
