Anient Traditional Fan, Italy, 18th Century
About the Item
Traditional Italian fan is an original decorative object realized in Italy in the half of the 18th century.
The fan is realized completely in gilded silk, decorated gilded wood and pink embroidery all around it.
In the center of the fan there is an original handmade painting.
The conditions are not good: a part of the embroidery is ruined.
Beautiful Italian artifact made of silk with embroidery and gilded wood decorated with small plant motifs.
In the center of the fan we can see a female figure holding a wreath of soft pink roses. She is resting on a carpet of leaves and flowers. The fan is an object used during the summer months to cool off; however, from the 17th century it became a real status symbol, a valuable object that can be exhibited on gallant occasions and that could be collected. The fans become real works of art, so much so that they are included in the kits of high lineage ladies.
