Burmeses Bronze Elephant Bell
About the Item
Elephant bells come from an ancient custom, dating back from around the time when elephants were domesticated. They were used first in India and their use then expanded to other countries in Asia were large populations of elephants were found. The main purpose of an elephant bell was to warn people of an elephant approaching as elephants can be very silent.
This magnificent example comes from Burma, age unknown, but has been in a private collection for over 25 years. It is made of Bronze.
