Unusual Antique Hand Carved Lizard and Prey Hard Stone Desk Weight, 19th Century
About the Item
A superb antique carved stone sculptural desk weight modeled as a lizard with its prey dating from the 19th century. Carved from a single piece of rectangular shaped stone the lizard is carved holding its prey in its mouth and stands on a flat rectangular base. The carving detail is excellent with a textured finish to the surface with polished sides showing the black and green characteristics of the stone. The sculpture is not marked.
In good condition with loss to one corner however appears to be in the carving.
