French Art Deco Aventurine and Gold Minaudiere
About the Item
One of the great French houses of the 1920s and 1930s, Lacloche Frères was founded in Madrid in 1875 by the four Lacloche brothers, Fernand, Jules, Léopold and Jacques. Eventually, the firm opened a branch in Paris, where they produced high-end jewelry, vanity cases and clocks. Often inspired by the decorative aesthetics of the Far East, their work leaned towards the Art Deco style, exotic themes and materials consistent with the current fashion. Although not as well known as some Parisian firms, Lacloche Frères employed a team of highly talented designers and artisans, resulting in pieces of superb quality. As a testament to their relevance during the 1920s, Lacloche Frères participated in both the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in 1925 and the Exposition des Arts de la Bijouterie, Joaillerie et Orfèverie in 1929.
