3 Pc Exceptional New York School Arts & Crafts Period Bronze Centerpiece Set
About the Item
American, late 19th to early 20th century.
The set consists of a large bronze centerpiece bowl which has been hand forged with a reeded recessed edge, water sculpted interior, paneled bottom and resting on four finely detailed feet. Note: This bowl is solid bronze and has quite a substantial weight. Accompanying the center bowl is a matched pair of bronze candlesticks with traditional masculine features and a tripod base.
Unfortunately these pieces are unmarked and I have been unable to identify a possible maker. There is a possibility these could be experimental pieces for one of the New York factories - Tiffany Studios could have thought to add favrile glass to the recessed edges. Possibly inspired by Robert Riddle Jarvie's work.
This set is absolutely incredible, like no other arts and crafts pieces I have owned or held in my career. Any collector would cherish these in their collection.
