Etude in Blue
About the Item
An "Etude in Blue" is a piece from a series developed and made by hand by the artist Olavo Machado Neto in his workshop / atelier in Minas Gerais Brazil.
The series continues the studies in forms and material malleability started by him in the late 2010s.
By taking a simple sheet of steel and carefully adding straight cuts to it, the bends come to life, structuring itself and revealing new glimpses of the light and shadow that bounces in the artwork as we look at it throughout the day.
The color blue is a choice made specifically for this piece as it required after the development of the final form.
Formally as lightweight as a cloud passing by on a windy spring day, the shapes change from every angle we look at it.
Embrassing the Wabi-Sabi philosophy, the sculpture presents intentionally, imperfections that show and remind of the work done by the artists hands in order to achieve this unique "imperfect perfection".
