Metal Sculpture by Salvatore Messina

About the Item

Salvatore Messina, sculpture, aluminum, Italy, 1960 Salvatore Messina (1916-1982) tackled the question of movement and the concept of space through his metal sculptures. The three-dimensionality of this sculpture is evoked by the angled pieces arranged together in different inclines. Vertical lines increase the strong dynamic and rhythm of the sculpture. The visual play between the shiny and matte metal adds to the flowing feeling as well as the materials underline the luxurious look of this handcrafted sculpture by Messina, which he signed with 'Salv'.
