Wonderfully unusual and artistic bookends by an unknown designer.
This pair of mystical bookends from the Mid-Century Modern era shows two stylized monks in their habits. Sitting on their blackened wooden stools they are completely unaware of anything happening around them, because they are showing exactly what reading can do to a human being. It is taking you to another place or it makes you even more eager to learn or maybe the teachings of a religion and the truth that is being told can strike a cord in your soul. We think that is what the artist who created these sculptural bookends is trying to tell us. This very rare and stylish pair has a silver color metal base, the monk sculptures themselves are anthracite colored and they are sitting on ebonized wooden stools. Apart from truly minor imperfections these decorative and artistic bookends are as good as new and they will look great no matter where you decide to have them on display.
