About the Item
'Turtle Jewel' is a unique artwork by the Swedish artist and designer, Lena Bergström.
Bergström is one of Sweden’s best-known glass designers. She followed a diverse training from window dressing to studying textiles at Stockholm’s prestigious Konstfack School, initially achieving fame for outstanding textile art before being headhunted by Orrefors, Sweden’s most famous crystal company. In her own words, she likes soft glass and hard textiles, her textiles often have a clear graphic expression, while her glass designs are more organic. Of her glass, focus and elegance; dramatic sharp graphic shapes; fluid and sensuous curves - just some of the words that spring to mind when looking at the work.
Lena has designed several prize-winning products and received numerous awards. She is represented by National museum in Stockholm, The Rohsska Museum of Fashion, Design & Decorative Arts in Gothenburg, Cleveland Museum of Art in the United States and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
