Introducing a rare, signed brass "Birds in Flight" sculpture by Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels for Curtis Jeré. The now iconic and emblematic "Birds in Flight" sculpture was first produced in the late 1960's and has forever since captured the admiration of designers and art dealers alike ever since.
Commonly mistaken as a singular designer, Curtis Jeré is a compound nom de plume of founding artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, who combined parts of their own names to create the "C. Jeré" signature found on their sculptures. Founded in 1963 by Fels and his brother-in-law Curtis (Kurt) Freiler the company produced a number of admired pieces that spanned from representational to highly abstract. Freiler was the production chief and Fels was head of design and their shared goal was to produce gallery-quality art for the masses. Under Freiler's meticulous direction, the artisans at Curtis Jeré - a number of whom were minorities or handicapped - hand sheared, crimped, torched, and welded brass, copper, and other metals into what have now become some of the most iconic sculptures of the Mid-Century Modern period.

This fascinating and iconic "Birds in Flight" sculpture is in 100% original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection! The solid, hand-welded and cut brass composition shows only minor signs of vintage wear with minor surface scratches that can be seen in the detail photos provided. However there are no other signs of wear whatsoever and all three hanging loops are intact ensuring that the piece will hang level on any wall.
This elegantly crafted and shaped sculpture is structurally sound and ready for a millennia of use thanks to it's solid brass composition.
