Biography
Massimo Giacon was born in Padova in 1961. Since 1980 he has been working in Milan, as a comic strip writer, illustrator, designer, artist and musician. Since the early 1980 he has contributed in the renovation of the Italian comic strip arisen from such magazines as Frigidaire, Alter, Dolce VITA, Cyborg, Nova Express, then in 1985 he started cooperating with the architecture study Sottsass Associati, carrying on his activity in design with Matteo Thun, Studio Mendini, Sieger Design and working with Olivetti, Memphis, Artemide, Alessi, Swatch, Philips, Ritzenhoff, Telecom. In 1990 he started an artistic activity which brought him to several both one-man and collective shows in Italy, Switzerland, America, Greece and Portugal. In 1994 he started being involved in graphic arts for web sites and CD-roms. After a decade of musical activity with different groups, in 1996 his first soloist collection “Horror Vacui” was issued, followed by another one in 2003, “Nella città Ideale” (In the Ideal City). Furthermore, he has created tapestry, rugs, pottery, kitchen tools, he has drawn advertising illustrations, he has cooperated with fashion designers and magazines (Romeo Gigli, Elle, Glamour), he has planned installations for international exhibitions and created animations for television. While teaching at the European Institute of Design in Milan, he is currently developing the production of several objects for Alessi, planning videogames, drawing comic stripsfor “Blue”and Coconino Press and continuing his artistic and performing activity.
