About the Item

Japanese Showa period Arita porcelain rooster and hen pair in striking bright white and red glaze. The pair comes with a signed box and was made during the Showa period, circa 1940. Ware from Arita are a traditional craft representing Japan, with 400 years of history. Arita is famous for having been the first porcelain production center in Japan. Measures: Rooster: 9” H x 6 1/2" W. Hen: 5 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W.
