KPM Porcelain Model of a Parrot, Late 19th Century

About the Item

A KPM porcelain model of a parrot German, late 19th century Measures: Height 23cm, width 12cm, depth 9cm Marked for KPM, the leading German porcelain makers, this charming and delightful animal sculpture is a late nineteenth century painted porcelain model of a bird, perched upon a short tree stump and beautifully painted with vibrant and colourful tones. Twisting its neck back towards the view in a curious and inquisitive stance, the birds' full quirky character is charmingly conveyed; the predominant shades of green subtly change and are complemented by a splash of blue to the forehead and by the wide, rose-tinted eyes. The exceptional modelling of the bird's form, its character, and the highly refined use of paint help make this fine piece a wonderful interior addition, and an excellent demonstration of the quality of German porcelain models and miniatures, by makers such as KPM in the late 19th century.
