Large Antique Carved Wood Male Bambara Chi Wara Antelope Figure

About the Item

Chi wara is a ritual headdress used by the Bambara people in Mali. Portrayed as both male or female figures Chi ware is associated with agriculture. This large male example has a strong and striking cut-out triangular motif with large curved spiral carved horns and allover chip-carved surface.
