Unusual Quality Glazed Art Pottery Monkey Holding a Vase, 20th Century

About the Item

An unusual and exceptionally well modeled studio glazed art pottery figure of a seated monkey holding a vase believed to date from the early to mid-20th century. Handcrafted in terracotta clay. The monkey sits on a shaped base and holds a large urn shaped vase and the whole is glazed in mottled black, brown and green glazes with some small air bursts within the glaze. With a lot of natural character to the figure it is surprisingly not marked, possibly Italian. Offered in good condition.
