Pair Of French Early 19th Century 1st Empire Period Bookends/Busts

About the Item

A most decorative pair of French early 19th century 1st Empire period patinated wood, giltwood, and faux painted marble bookends/busts. Each bookend is raised by a square mottled base with a fine wrap around giltwood fillet below the impressive and wonderfully executed faux painted marble support. Above is the striking richly carved elegantly scrolled caryatid with braided hair tied at the front and a remarkable tied headpiece with a superb giltwood reserve.
