Patinated Plaster Bust of a Dying Slave, Michelangelo, Cast by Mulaza, ca 1970s

About the Item

Gold patinated bust of a Dying Slave, after the renaissance work by Michelangelo, impressed "Mulaza Zagreb, D/3." Mulaza Zagreb was an artist atelier founded in Zagreb, Croatia in the 1950s. The atelier produced mainly plaster and plastic anatomical and geographical models for educational purposes until the early 1990s when it was closed. This very decorative bust was made in the 1970s. An interesting matte gold finish creates the allure of Pop Art in this piece. The original work, A Dying Slave by the great renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarotti, was made of white Italian marble. Condition: Small wear marks and surface age-related patina. There are no chips and cracks. The item remains in original vintage condition, with no traces of repair.
