Edo Period 19th Century Japanese Gilt Wood Standing Amida Buddha

About the Item

A lacquered and gilded 19th century Edo period Amida Buddha deity. Shown standing with hands in the Amida mudra , the robes draped in folds across the torso and hanging loosely across the arms, the figure set on a multi-tier lotus pedestal and framed by a large carved mandorla decorated with cloud motif. A striking art object with fine quality workmanship.
