White and beige marble Laser and traditional techniques Measures: H. 23.6’’ x 13.8’’ x 13.8’’ 253 lb. Unique, signed and delivered with certificate of authenticity “My job is to make the past and the present coexist. By abandoning the fundamental idea that marble is carved from a single block, two types of marble are merged together to form a single mass. The final effect, created with the lines of the different assembled materials, is a unique piece on its own". Park Seungwan Through this unique piece, Park Seungwan gives us a glimpse of the future of sculptural art. This work highlights a perfect mastery of the traditional techniques but also a deliberately raw and incisive approach to modern techniques with the use of 3D robots and laser techniques. Thus, in a unique piece, the artist makes coexist two materials, two techniques and two eras of sculptural art. The vision of the artist Park Seungwan is quite singular. Park Seungwan perfectly masters the ancestral and traditional techniques of sculpture that gave birth to the most beautiful masterpieces known to date such as the sculpture "Laocoon Group" from which he draws his inspiration for this achievement. The "Laocoon Group" is a Roman copy of an ancient Greek sculpture depicting the Trojan priest Laocoon and his sons attacked by snakes. Currently preserved in the Pio-Clementino Museum, in the Vatican. Park Seungwan is a visionary artist who pays tribute to the heritage and ancestral techniques of sculptural art while contributing to the research and development of modern techniques in this same field.
