About the Item
Blacked wood helmet mask (Gelede), large human head surmounted by a dog eating a snake which curves around the head. No perforation for attachment to costume from Yoruba, Nigeria. Purchased in 1982 at James R Lawson Pty. Limited, Sydney, Australia and examined and appraised by Gregory Ghent Fine Arts, Inc in 1984, from an Kentfield, Marin County, California estate. Copies of said paperwork included.
