About the Item
A most spectacular antique Spanish Colonial figure of Madonna, Mexico circa 19th century possibly earlier. Constructed in plaster with carved and gilt wood accent. Realistic in style, and of the highest artistic expression and craftsmanship, this statue features Madonna dressed in voluminous dress detailed with gold leaf and poly-chrome surface, her arms outstretched with articulated hands, her expression regal and serene; with glass eyes and a metal halo, on a parcel-gilt plinth. A stunning piece of the colonial art at its best.

Figure: 14" High 1.5lbs Great original antique condition, especially considering it's around 350 years old. Nicely aged patina over the whole. Presented on a later wood plinth base.
