Antique Terracotta Religious Wall Plaque / Sculpture of Christ in Deep Relief
About the Item
Impressive and all handcrafted, early 1900s sculpture of Christ suffering.
Just like in the days when Christ lived on our planet, the truth (about who we are and how to best live our life’s) still has not completely sunk into the psyche of mankind. As long as we don't raise and/or recognize people that are genuinely good, we will be led by those who love power and money more than doing what is right for mankind. To us, that very much is what this suffering Christ is about. This rare quality, sculptural terracotta plaque is in very good condition and it is marked on the back by the artist (see image 11). We don't recognize the monogram, but the quality and the unique style in which this Christ sculpture was designed and created tell us that this is the work of a master craftsman. To us, this intensely suffering Christ, also portrays the suffering of all of those who tried (sometimes desperately) to change 'the world' for the better. With this sculpture, we feel, the artist paid tribute to all of them. This unique sculpture also makes a special gift for a devout friend or loved one.
