Black with Dark Green Undertones Hollow Ceramic Sculpture Ball Feet, Hand Built

About the Item

A new series of small sculptures in the Modern Totemic vein. Not exactly humanistic, but they do have feet and personality. They are abstracted, offering a feeling of historic beings, of something from the past, or the future. There is life but where is it from? While making these I think of all the different life forms found on earth, from the molecular to the human, to the inanimate. From the deepest oceans to the sky, life forms exist in widely varied, often unimaginable shapes. As I discover each piece (for it really does seem like a discovery) I feel I am being introduced to something/someone with a life and history of its own. As in most of my work I am interested in abstracting the idea, simplifying it to its most basic essence. Here it is a Hollow Oval Form With 4 tightly-place balls for feet. Using my favorite dark chocolate clay body, I have chosen a matte black glaze that sometimes has dark green undertones. The sheen from the glaze and the green tones accentuate its "life from somewhere else" vibe yet it still shows the artist's hand. Each is unique. This piece was fired twice. Signed with Artist's Chop underneath.
