Bronze Figurine Sculpture of Blindfolded Girl signed, Italian 19th C

About the Item

This is a solid bronze figurine of a young Girl with a blindfold playing Hide and Seek, which we attribute to the Italian sculptor Giuseppe Ferrari ( Ferrara , 1804 - Ferrara , 1884 ) this piece being made in the last quarter of the 19th Century The figure is beautifully sculpted with very good detail, having a lovely depth of color which is difficult to capture in a photograph. The bronze is very well patinated showing a lighter color to the high points of the figure where it has been handled and polished over the years. The base is signed on the top behind the feet but the signature is not easy to read. Overall a very well sculpted bronze figure from the 19th century     -------------------------------------- Giuseppe Ferrari ( Ferrara , 1804 - Ferrara , 1864 ) was an Italian sculptor He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, then moved to Rome in 1830, once again subsidized by the Municipality of Ferrara, studying at the National Academy of San Luca , remaining there for three years working alongside Pietro Tenerani and creating works for the Ferrara Charterhouse . Returning to Ferrara shortly after 1844, in that year he obtained the chair of sculpture at the civic school of art.

  • Art Deco Figurine Table Lamp Bronze Lady Sculpture, French, circa 1930
    Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a stunning figurine table lamp of a nude lady bronze Figurine sculpture made in France, circa 1930. The figurine is heavy and made of bronze metal with good detail. It has been cold painted with a green colour which has worn away in places, showing a patinated bronze colour beneath. The lady is stood on a round ball above a shaped shell like base. The figure is holding the lamp above her head with the electric cable running into the base and vertically up her back to the lamp fitting above. A coloured spherical glass shade firmly sits in the dished support. The light is currently fitted with a small bayonet fitting, the whole electrical fitting having been PAT tested for safety compliance in the UK. The fitting could easily be modified to suit the electricity supply of the country where it might be used . This piece is typical of the Art Deco aesthetic, with the sleek lines of the nude girl figure holding the globe light above. The lamp is in full working order. This is a substantial heavy piece weighing about 2.5Kg unpacked. Overall a beautiful original Art Deco Lady Figurine...

  • Early antique Russian Travelling Icon in bronze, 18th Century or earlier

This is an early Russian orthodox travelling Icon, hand made of bronze, which we date to 18th Century or earlier. The bronze icon is cast with a main rectangular slightly curved shape with a smaller rectangular tab section above. The reverse has a hanging spigot cast into the top tab section. This piece has a mix of colours within the bronze with the high points being worn and shiny from wear and use. This antique bronze icon probably depicts Saint Nicholas as the central image with other figures ( children?) either side of the head, all within a border. There are other details on the icon including letters and numbers towards the top of the main rectangle. The tab section is also decorated. The reverse also carries decoration but is quite worn. Overall an early and very interesting Russian bronze Icon...
