- Weathered White Painted Belgian Cement Unicorn, Circa 1960Located in Dallas, TXCast in Belgium, circa 1960, this cement unicorn features a fabulously weathered white-painted finish. Acceptable losses to the paint have revealed areas of the gray-colored stone, which have developed a black and green patination. The unicorn is depicted in a lodged manner, which is a heraldry term for a domesticated animal lying down with its head raised. A long, flowing mane runs down the nape of the neck, partially covering a bejeweled choker harness. In Europe, unicorns have been part of folklore for over 2,000 years, with people believing they existed up until the late Middle Ages.
