About the Item

Two ceramic sculptures designed by Bertozzi & Casoni and produced by Cooperativa Ceramiche d'Imola. Biography Giampaolo Bertozzi, born in Borgo Tossignano in 1957, and Stefano Dal Monte Casoni, born in Lugo di Romagna in 1961, met while studying at the Gaetano Ballardini Ceramic Art Institute of Faenza, Italy. In 1980, they founded a ceramics production company called “Bertozzi & Casoni s.n.c.,” thereby inserting themselves into the tradition of workshops. Their work was featured in the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2009 and 2011. Solo museum exhibitions include a survey at Castello Sforzesco and Museo Internazionale delle Ceramiche in Faenza (2008-09), a solo show at Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali, Polignano a Mare, Italy (2011-12); and “Bertozzi & Casoni: Timeless” at the Museum Beelden aan Zee, Den Haag, The Netherlands (2013). Recent solo museum exhibitions include MAMbo, Museo d’Arte Moderna, Bologna (2015-16); Palazzo Poggi, Bologna (2017); Museo MARCA, Catanzaro (2019); and Museo Morandi, Bologna (2019-20). In 2017, Museo Bertozzi & Casoni, a permanent exhibition space devoted to their work, opened at the Cavallerizza Ducale in Sassuolo, Italy. Bertozzi & Casoni currently live and work in Imola near Bologna, Italy.

About Ultrapop Aliens, zombies, monsters, Robots, cyclops and freaks are the protagonists in an exhibition of contemporary art “Ultrapop Ultracolor” which opens at the Museo di Arte Contemporanea in Villa Croce in Genoa. Comic strip imagination on full power animates the work of Dario Arcidiacono, Giordano Curreri, Antonio Sorrentino and Sandra Virlinzi, four young artists from Catania and Genoa who have been working together for a number of years under the name Ultrapop. This unusual exhibition at Genoa brings together over forty pieces of “ironic frights”, most of which are being shown for the first time. Biography Sandra Virlinzi was born in Catania in 1973. He studied in Rome and in 1997 he moved to Milan where he began working for the world of publishing, design and web publishing. In the same year, together with Arcidiacono, Curreri and Sorrentino, he founded the 'Ultrapop' group and until 2005 he was part of it, presenting his painting works with them in numerous group exhibitions.
