Magnificent patinated bronze sculpture on black marble base by American sculptor Charles Umlauf, signed, circa 1970. Sculpting portrait of a seated woman. Umlauf was one of the premier sculptors in Texas in the second half of the 20th century, Charles Umlauf' s sculptures range in style from realism and abstract expressionism to lyrical abstraction. Singed on the base. Excellent condition. American circa 1970 Charles Umlauf (1911 –1994) was an American sculptor that lived and worked in Austin Texas. His sculptures can be found in numerous public institutions, outdoor locations, and museums, including the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as in many private collections.
