Impresive corn stalk paste sculpture of our Lady of Guadalupe, found in wester México, circa 1900 Since pre-Cortés times, the purepechas recreated their idols in figures made from stalk corn, glue from orchids, milled nopales and poisonous plants to protect their desired creation. This technique is also called tatzingueni. These craft works can be found in sculptures from Patzcuaro, but nowadays with catholic motifs.
