Pair of Orientalist Royal Worcester Porcelain Figures of Water Carriers
About the Item
These two refined Orientalist figures represent a male and female in Eastern dress, each holding a ceramic water jug. The pair was modelled by British ceramic designer James Hadley, who was the principal modeller at the Royal Worcester porcelain factory. The figures are a brilliant example of Hadley's skillful work, which is famed for its beauty and attention to naturalistic detail. On their bases, the figures are incised with their date and the maker's name, 'Hadley.'
