About the Item
Pre-Columbian pottery figure of a seated woman giving birth, with her hands behind the back. It was most probably used by a shaman to look for the benevolence of the "snake woman" also known as Cihuacóatl who was one of the great motherhood and fertility goddesses.
Terracotta red beige coffee with traces of localized manganese dioxide. Very beautiful state of conservation except a small missing piece of veneer from the hair and a bit bigger missing piece at the left hand.
