Sculpture, Bronze, Signed and Numbered, VEIGA, Fernando 'Madrid, 1943'

About the Item

Signed and numbered (1/6). VEIGA, Fernando (Madrid, 1943). Female sculpture placed on a base of dark stone in which a young girl is shown kneeling upwards and without her arms (remembering the Venus de Milo, for example, and adding the interesting detail of showing a youthful lady on one side and an old one on the other), totally naked and with a treatment that brings her closer to novelties contributed by several artistic avant-gardes of the twentieth century. Fernando Veiga (Madrid, 1943) is a Spanish sculptor closely linked to the North American vanguards, who is known for his stays in New York, along with a fine modeling, present in some of his pieces, more linked to the realist tradition that begins in Greece and Rome in Antiquity, is appreciated in the traditional Spanish imagery and is still current in some teachers.
