Terracotta Articulated Doll Santos Figure Wearing a Bowler Hat

About the Item

Unusual, and quite amusing Mexican terracotta doll figure with articulated limbs. Since it is solid terracotta it is likely this is a mold from which other dolls were made. As a folk art sculpture it is absolutely charming. The bowler hat gives it a whimsical appearance, and yet the face is quite serious. The collector who previously owned these clearly prized them, having custom bases made for their display. Singular pieces of quirky sculpture for the adventurous collector. They are appealing in their oddity and uniqueness,. Mexican, circa 1900.
