WPA Art Deco Terracotta Buffalo Sculpture by Anthony Vozech, Circa 1930s
About the Item
WPA terracotta buffalo sculpture by Anthony Vozech, circa 1930s. Dimensions: 8” wide 20” high 22” deep. Minor wear on the bottom edge.
Anthony Vozech was an Ohio artist that did WPA work in the 1930s and 1940s. One of his most famous works was an aluminum and limestone relief done in 1940. It still adorns the 325 N. Michigan building entrance in Toledo, Ohio.
Based on my research of the Vozech, he was an Ohio artist born in 1895, in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He is listed in Davenport’s Who's Who in American Art, he exhibited at the Salons of American Art, The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
