Rare English Romanesque Limestone Capital on Stand

About the Item

This weathered English Romanesque limestone capital is centuries old, dating from the Norman era of the 11th and 12th centuries. Originating from Oxfordshire, it is decoratively hand carved, perhaps once forming part of an interior or exterior of a prominent Norman building. A rare find, this beautifully preserved stone capital is a piece of English architectural history, mounted on a bespoke steel stand for use as a display piece for a live-in museum or interior. Capital: H47 x W36 x D30 cm (H 18.50 x W 14.17 x D 11.81 inch). Base: 30 x 30 cm (11.81 x 11.81 inch).
