Sculptural tree with an 18th century Italian gold leaf miniature helmet and mounted on a calcite and mica mineral. The helmet is hung on a type of desert wood and is mounted on a calcite and mica mineral which sits on a gold leaf wood base. The wood base has been carved to emulate the shape of the mineral.
The "tree" is a type of desert wood, possibly iron desert wood. It appears to have "grown out" of the calcite and mica base. The helmet hangs on one of the tree branches like a soldier lost his helmet in a battle.
The elements create a contemporary, figurative work of organic and historic significance.
