This is an antique hip flask. An English, leather bound, glass and silver plated retirement or celebration gift, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920. Tactile in form and of usable pocket size at 3/16th of a pint Displaying a desirable aged patina and appealing weathering Glass vial bound in quality crimson red leather Silver plated removable drinking cup fits tightly against the flask Silvered screw cap benefits from the original cork lining Viewing apertures to both sides to assess when the flask may need refilling Maker's marks to base read 'JD & S - EPBM, 3/16 Pt, 583A' - James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield Made in England, this example stamped with Cockburns Ltd, Cardonald - Scotland This is a desirable antique hip flask, likely presented in retirement or celebration to an employee of Cockburn & Co, a Scottish engineering company of the late Victorian and early 20th century period. Quality finish throughout, and as useful today as it was 100 years ago. Delivered polished and ready to enjoy or pass on as a gift.
