John Seddon Bailey & Co Fulham Pottery Salt Glazed Stoneware Spirit Flagon
About the Item
A rare English Aesthetic Period salt glazed stoneware spirit flagon designed by John Seddon for Bailey & Co, Fulham and dated 29th December 1880. The flagon is of square shape with a narrow raised pouring neck and spout with a shaped handle applied to the side. The flagon is decorated in relief with single flower heads on tall stems repeated on each side and with tall leaf designs to each corner and with scroll decorations applied around the neck. The vase is painted in tones of blue and green with a salt glazed finish. The flagon has impressed marks to the base along with an S mark for John Seddon. The flagon also has a date registry mark to the handle dating the flagon to 1880.
