Size 13.5" Rare Salvador Dali bottles complete set of 3 blue cased glass with surrealist designs signed 1970s for Rosso Antico Italian glass decanters This is a set of 3 Rosso Antico bottles that were designed by Salvador Dali. Rosso Antico is a dessert wine produced in San Lazzaro di Savena, Italy. It is produced by the infusion of 32 herbs macerated in alcohol (including rosemary, thyme and sage and then added to a mixture of 5 different types of wine. Dali was commissioned by the makers of Rosso Antico in the early 1970's to create these surrealist images on their bottles as part of a promotional Campaign . The print plates for these bottles were destroyed back in the very early 1970’s to ensure limited edition status. They rarely come up for sale and are highly collectable. The three bottles are three different shades of blue. Each bottle has a different design. Each bottle is numbered on the back as #1, #2 or #3. All three have a round plastic CAP. None are chipped or damages. Bottles are empty. Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, 1st Marquis of Dalí de Púbol (11 May 1904 – 23 January 1989), known professionally as Salvador Dalí was a prominent Spanish surrealist born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. Dalí was a skilled draftsman, best known for the striking and bizarre images in his surrealist work. His painterly skills are often attributed to the influence of Renaissance masters. His best-known work, The Persistence of Memory, was completed in August 1931. Dalí's expansive artistic repertoire included film, sculpture, and photography, at times in collaboration with a range of artists in a variety of media. Dalí attributed his "love of everything that is gilded and excessive, my passion for luxury and my love of oriental clothes"[5] to an "Arab lineage", claiming that his ancestors were descendants of the Moors. Dalí was highly imaginative, and also enjoyed indulging in unusual and grandiose behavior. To the dismay of those who held his work in high regard, and to the irritation of his critics, his eccentric manner and attention-grabbing public actions sometimes drew more attention than his artwork.
