About the Item

A very stylish studio pottery lidded jar decorated with deer and birds in an abstract landscape made at Morvern Pottery in Cumbria by Chris Barnes (British, b.1959) dating from around 2009. Learning about clay at adult education classes in Islington Chris went on to study Sculpture at St Martins School of Art, London and graduated in 1982. He has been making work for over thirty years having moved from London in 2006 and setting up the Morvern Pottery in 2009. The jar is hand decorated in green glazes on a white glazed ground with two deer and two birds set among an abstract scrolling pattern with trees. The cover is similarly decorated. The jar has an impressed bird mark to the lower edge. Provenance: Acquired from the British Art Market. In good condition.
