Chinese 19th-20th Century Gilt Bronze Mounted Cloisonné Jardinière 'Planter'

About the Item

A fine Chinese 19th-20th century gilt bronze mounted cloisonné jardinière (planter). The beautifully and finely executed late Qing dynasty ovoid body cloisonné enamel jardiniere with a blue-Celeste background and colorful enameled depictions of flowers, birds and butterflies, as well as wire scroll work in a geometric pattern, supported by a figural gilt-bronze (ormolu) base raised with four Chinese Imperial lions or foo dogs with paw-feet, Cantonese style handles and fitted with a pierced gilt-bronze balcony encircling the jardiniere opening. Stamped with letters (unknown). Circa: 1900. Meaures: Height: 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm) Width: 22 3/4 inches (57.8 cm) Depth: 12 3/4 inches (32.4 cm).

    Wear consistent with age and use. Minor fading. A truly beautiful and very decorative cloisonne planter. Overall condition is very good, the gilt-bronze mounts have some pitted age corrosion spots due to the exposure to water. The cloisonne in good condition. Please view all images.
