Exceptional Pair of Neoclassical Revival Hand Painted Wooden Urns, circa 1880
About the Item
A most impressive & highly decorative pair of 19th century ebonized wooden urns, both fitted with detachable lids with gilded composition mounts, the bodies decorated overall with hand painted gilt motifs and romantic themed murals, the necks featuring applied neoclassical elements in the form of gilded composition rams heads.
Raised overall upon circular plinth bases decorated with scrolled gilt foliage and swan motifs, which were designs strongly associated with the French Empire period.
