Pair of English 19th Century Neoclassical Style Green Painted Lidded Tôle Urns

About the Item

A pair of English Neoclassical green painted tôle lidded urns from the 19th century, with scrolling foliage and palmettes, friezes of waterleaves, campanula and ivy. Created in England during the 19th century, each of this pair of urns captures our attention with its delicate Neoclassical décor that became so popular in the late 18th century. Painted in green, these tôle urns showcase lids with turned finials, hand-painted in a soft yellow color with a round of ivy and waterleaves. These lids open to reveal a dark interior. Their cylindrical tapering belly is adorned in the front with scrolling foliage surrounding delicate campanulas and palmettes. The ensemble is accented with painted gadroon-inspired motifs in their lower section. Raised on square shaped bases, this pair of English Neoclassical style painted tôle urns from the 19th century will bring an undeniable touch of elegance to any home décor, particularly placed on a commode or credenza!
