About the Item
Cassolette in gilded and chiseled bronze. This pair of Louis XVI style pot vases or urns is made of a square bronze base polished with agate. This base carries a fluted pedestal. The neck has the same grooves, the handles and the lid are in plant scrolls and a leaf and berry motif. The body takes up an emblematic model of vase by the sculptor Clodion*, we see a Bacchic harvest made by putti under garlands carried by two grotesque masks. France 19th century Good condition: some traces of wear to the gilding. *Claude Michel, known as Clodion, born December 20, 1738 in Nancy and died March 29, 1814 in Paris, is a French sculptor.
