Alphonse Cytere Bowl

About the Item

Alphonse Cytere took the world by storm in 1903 when he opened his studio in Rambervillers, France. It was here near the artistic center of Nancy that Cytere began creating ceramics with unique metallic, iridescent glazes. This beautifully crafted finish was paired with organic forms designed by some of the most prominent artists of the Ecole de Nancy. When Cytere died in 1941, he took with him the manufacturing secrets that made Rambervillers famous. This charming bowl has the unique mirrored glaze that is exclusive to the work of Cytere and his workshop.
