About the Item
A good antique American Arts and Crafts pottery vase by Rookwood Pottery Co, dated 1917.
The vase having a charcoal color matte glaze with hints of green and blue, the vase of narrow tapering form with a flared foot, marked to the base with the Rookwood mark and date mark XVII and incised decorater's mark.
This form was evidently inspired/copied from a copper clad vase designed by the American art potter Charles Walter Clewell, of Canton Ohio. Condition is excellent.
