Antique Viennese Enamel Cornucopia Vase C. 1880 Vienna Austria

About the Item

A magnificent Antique 19th century Silver & Viennese Enamel Vase in the shape of a large cornucopia supported by a silver griffin on a domed pedestal foot. The Cornucopia has a sumptuous flared and scrolled rim. The exterior of the cornucopia and the pedestal foot as well as both the interior and exterior of the flared rim are heavily embellished with rich, detailed enamel images referencing classical and mythological themes. The figures in the foreground are enhances by deeply coloured backgrounds and patterned borders. The interior of the cornucopia and the foot are decorated with enamelled patterns.
