Balaustra Vase by Oeuffice

About the Item

Balaustra vase by Oeuffice Edition: 12 + 2AP 2013 Dimensions: 59 x 18 x 32 cm Materials: Black oxide steel, solid brass and black marble of ormea This open structure vase has an oval shaped brass railing that embraces and maintains flowers or plants in an upright display. The pure and three-dimensional metallic construction evokes the geometry of a continuous balustrade, particularly common in Milanese rationalist architecture. Inspired by Milanese architecture and its abundant offering of ornate detailing, Oeuffice has created a striking collection of centrepieces intended as monumental artifacts for any domestic environment. The series in itself is conceived as a fragmentation of the many bold and unique architectural gems scattered throughout Italy’s industrial and financial capital. By carefully isolating a variety of these dominant structural characteristics and materials, the Milanes’ Collection eloquently captures the essence of this city’s wealth and influence. Oeuffice was founded in 2011 as a collaboration between Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte and Jakub Zak. After many years of a parallel life between Canada, Berlin and Milan, they united to form Oeuffice, a new research laboratory with a focus on developing innovative objects of limited edition. Their work reflects a common ideal of creating objects inspired by visions of a contemporary utopia and has been exhibited internationally with various galleries including Phillips de Pury in London, R20th in New York, Dimore Gallery in Milan and Carwan Gallery in Beirut.
