About the Item
Murano blown glass vase created by master glassmaker Paolo Crepax.
The bottom is black blown glass but inside the black glass are melted murrine.Murrine were created by the Romans and represent sections of cane(full glass rod) that have abstract or even figurative designs inside them such as faces flowers or animals.
The term murrina would be related to the word myrrh, which really means perfume probably because this glass containing minerals gave off a scent.
Another technique present in this vase is silver leaf and it works so the master decides to make the silver an integral part of the mixture by placing a foil on the part of the 'mixture to then be covered with an additional glassy layer
