Brutalist Italian Steel Vase in the Style of Luciano Frigerio, Italy 1970s

About the Item

Sculptural vase from the 70s in a brutalist style. The structure of the vase develops on two levels. The first level is a parallelepiped with a quadrangular section; It has a smooth texture and an essential shape that contrasts with the second layer. The second and external layer is a real sculpture. It's perforated, hammered and irregular which seems to climb and incorporate the first.

  • Midcentury Travertine Ashtray in the Style of Fratelli Mannelli, Italy, 1970s
    By Fratelli Mannelli
    Located in Roma, IT
Sculptural Ashtray attributable to the historic company Fratelli Mannelli, specialized in the processing of travertine. Known for its collaboration with the designer Enzo Mari, who designed a series of stylized travertine animals, this Manifcaturer has also produced many other furnishing elements such as ashtrays, coffee tables and lamps. The ashtray that we offer for design and material seems to be part of this vast production of this manufacturer. The ashtray has a classic quadrangular shape but the distinctive element that distinguishes it and makes it more similar to a sculpture than a simple ashtray is in the handmade carved elements. There is a small central basin that connects with those created to be able to place the cigarettes laterally, but above all the lines that intersect each other as in a sound sculpture by Pinuccio Sciola.

  • Brutalist Mirror in hammered copper in the style of A. Bragalini, Italy 1960s
    Located in Roma, IT
A mid-century mirror with an unusual and sinuous shape, the circular shape becomes three-dimensional, rising and falling, creating waves and craters just like the lunar surface. This vintage mirror is made in Italy between the 50s and 60s and recalls the work of the artist Angeli Bragalini due to its sculptural style, techniques used and use of copper. Angelo Bragalini was an Italian architect and sculptor who mastered goldsmithing techniques which he used to create works of art but also to create artefacts and furnishing accessories in his material of choice: copper. He also collaborated on the creation of scenographic elements for iconic films such as 8 1/2 (1963) and Juliet of the Spirits...
